The Who take to the stage for the band’s second engagement at the Isle of Wight on August 29, 1970.

In the middle of the band’s lengthy Tommy tour, the Who focused on tracks from the album of the same name. But they also played fan favourites like “I Can’t Explain” and “My Generation.”

The Who were in fine form, and the Isle of Wight is considered a favourite among fans. Even the in-between song banter is of note:

“Smile, you buggers! Pretend it’s Christmas.”
