The Who Celebrate Roger Daltrey’s Birthday In Toronto!

The Who Hits 50! Tour continues to be a complete success, and their stop in Toronto yesterday proved no different!

Frontman Roger Daltrey celebrated his 72nd birthday with the Canadian crowd of 14,000 people.

The show was initially scheudled from October 19 to March 1 after Daltrey became ill with viral meningitis–looks like he’s feeling much better as the band showed no signs of weakness in their hit-packed set!

Opening with signature track “Who Are You”, The Who made their mark from the first note. Guitarist Pete Townshend joined Daltrey onstage, alongside touring members Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr’s son!), Pino Palladino, Simon Townshend (Pete’s younger brother), Loren Gold, Frank Simes and John Gorey.

The Who was loving the electricity the crowd provided.

“Great to be back in Toronto,” said Townshend, before commenting on the beautiful women he’s met in Ontario’s capital.

The set couldn’t be more hit-packed: from “The Kids Are Alright” igniting the momentum early on, to the climatic highs of “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Love, Reign O’er Me”, and the closing act including “Pinball Wizard” and “Baba O’Riley”, the energy was nothing short of incredible. Half a century into their career and The Who are still stunning sold-out crowds with impeccable talent.

Daltrey, Townshend and the gang will return for six more Canadian dates in April and May, including one more stop in Toronto.
