Elton John‘s annual party to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation is a highlight of Oscars season, and this year was no different.

This year, rock newcomers Greta Van Fleet played the annual Academy Awards party last night in West Hollywood, California.

“They’re amazing, and they blew me away,” John said in his introduction. “So you’re going to see them here and they’re going to be one of the biggest new bands of the year. They have an amazing future ahead of them, and I’m so thrilled — I’m so thankful to have them come onstage and play for you.”

Greta Van Fleet played “Edge of Darkness” as well as an acoustic track. John joined the band for “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.

John said the band’s sound is “the best rock ‘n’ roll I’ve heard in 20 fucking years!”
