The late Donna Summer was appropriately crowned "The Queen of Disco" decades ago at the height of the boom that helped to truly make her an icon. And being recognized as such, she will be inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during its 2013 ceremonies. But being a strongvoiced singer with her roots deep in the music of church choirs, by way of her hometown of Boston, it was a role she didn't readily adjust to at first. However, the worldwide adulation that resulted after a musical/theatrical role took her to Germany, which led her to record producer Giorgio Moroder and his collaborator, Pete Bellotte, is a Hollywood story in its own right. The success of the rather provocative "Love to Love You Baby" set people on their heels and began an amazing streak of pop and disco hits for that team. With all those chart-toppers being "On the Radio," they helped solidify Summer's place in the record books and in the hearts of millions. The hits kept coming from "Hot Stuff" to "Bad Girls" to the anthem "She Works Hard for the Money" and they're all included in this Icon collection.
