Aretha Franklin is “seriously ill”, an anonymous source confirms to the Associated Press.
Franklin, 76, has cancelled concerts earlier this year due to health concerns. She was ordered by doctors to rest.
Friends of the singer have taken to Twitter to confirm the news:

According to Local 4 News in Detroit, her illness has not been revealed at this time. A source tells TMZ the singer has been battling cancer.
TMZ also reports the singer is down to 86 pounds and that her family was told she could “go at any time.”
Source close to Aretha and a longtime friend tells TMZ he was told a week ago, "Prepare yourself, she's dying." The source adds Aretha was down to 86 pounds and her health was failing. The source says 2 weeks ago everyone in Aretha's circle was told "she could go any time."

Franklin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and has won 18 Grammy Awards over the course of her career.
