Production Halted On Queen Biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

UPDATE #1: Director Bryan Singer has been fired from the project after he became too unreliable, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tensions between Singer and actor Remi Malek were allegedly escalating: Malek complained to the studio saying Singer was not present on set, unreliable, and unprofessional.

Production on the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has come to a screeching halt.

The movie, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, has been put on hold “due to the unexpected unavailability of [director] Bryan Singer” according to a statement from 20th Century Fox.

The Hollywood Reporter reports he failed to return to production after Thanksgiving break.

Singer’s camp told the BBC that the director is unable to return to to work due to a family health issue.

Singer also reportedly disappeared during filming of several other movies, including X-Men: Apocalypse and Superman Returns.
